Arthur D. Levy

Arthur D. Levy brings over 30 years of litigation experience to bear on consumer rights litigation, with a special emphasis on insurance and financial services class actions. His philosophy of legal practice is YesQuire.
 
Over the course of his career, Mr. Levy has successfully tried and settled large-scale actions against Mercury Insurance Company, Auto Insurance Specialists, Bank of America, Xerox, and IKON. He's currently cocounseling two class actions against JPMorgan Chase Bank, challenging Chase's debt collection and credit reporting practices, and an additional class action against CashCall, Inc., challenging CashCall's exorbitant interest rates and lending practices.

In addition to Consumer Law, Mr. Levy's secondary practice areas include Historic Resource Defense, Business-to-Business Dispute Resolution, and Litigation Management Consulting. His active pro bono practice includes extensive Amicus Curiae (Friend of the Court) Briefs for non-profit organizations, including National Consumer Law Center, Consumers Union, the California Reinvestment Coalition and the Housing and Economic Rights Advocates. He has provided Pro Bono legal representation to historic preservation organizations such as Oakland Heritage Alliance, the Friends of 1800, California Preservation Foundation, and the Sanghapala Foundation

Professional Career

After receiving his J.D. from UC Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law and his admittance to the California Bar in 1980, Mr. Levy served as an associate at Morrison & Foerster (1980-82) and Collete & Erickson (1982-85). After a period in solo practice (1985-88) he was a partner at Ewell & Levy (1988-1997) and Levy, Ram & Olson (1997-2009). In 2010 he once again began a sole practice and opened The Law Office of Arthur D. Levy in order to further focus on advocating consumer rights and to practice his YesQuire legal philosophy. 

Accolades

Mr. Levy has been awarded the Oakland Heritage Alliance's 2011 Partners in Preservation Award for his advocacy and leadership in protection of public interest and defense of historic landmarks; he has been recognized as a "Super Lawyer" for his high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement
